I don’t accept insurance at this time, and I’ve found this actually benefits my clients. In previous group neuropsychology practices I worked at, even clients with the best coverage often faced partial reimbursement, weeks or months of pre-authorization delays, and $1,400–$1,600 out-of-pocket costs—for a $3,000 evaluation. At Hill Country Neuropsychology, my private-pay model keeps costs transparent and affordable at $1,250, and the full evaluation process—from scheduling to final report—typically takes just 2 weeks, rather than months waiting on insurance.
We also provide letter drafts that clients can send to their church leaders (bishop, reverend, rabbi, etc.) to request support with the cost. Churches operate as non-profits and are eager to help cover these expenses. A neuropsychological assessment shouldn’t be out of anyone’s reach. A letter for family members is available as well, which you can email if you’re hoping for help covering the cost. We’ve found that families of neurodivergent individuals often want to support them but may struggle to know exactly how, and clients with ADHD or autism can worry about misreading social cues or feeling unsure how to ask—these letters make it simple and clear. I also accept some clients on a sliding scale basis, and we'll discuss the exact cost during the initial consultation.
A neuropsychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of thinking, memory, attention, processing speed, and emotional functioning. It helps identify strengths and challenges in the brain’s functioning, guides treatment planning, and provides objective documentation for school, work, or medical needs. Unlike a standard psychological test, a neuropsychological evaluation is deeply individualized and can reveal subtle differences in how someone with ADHD, autism, Long COVID (PASC), memory problems, or other conditions thinks, learns, and manages daily life.
I combine a thorough review of your history, questionnaires, and in-depth testing of memory, attention, processing speed, and emotional functioning. Using research-backed criteria, I carefully distinguish typical differences from clinically significant patterns. This methodical approach ensures any diagnosis is accurate, meaningful, and actionable for treatment or accommodations.
Your neuropsychological report is more than just test scores—it’s a comprehensive roadmap for understanding and supporting you. It summarizes results across memory, attention, processing speed, executive functioning, and emotional regulation, and clearly interprets how these patterns impact daily life. I provide not only any diagnoses, but also an overarching theory of what’s happening, including how multiple diagnoses may interact, which is primary versus secondary, and why. The report offers actionable recommendations and next steps, written to put family members, doctors, therapists, and other specialists on the same page, so everyone can support you effectively and efficiently.
Remote testing allows you or your child to complete evaluations from the comfort of your own home using a secure online platform. Sessions are typically conducted via video call, with digital materials shared in real-time. You’ll have step-by-step guidance throughout, and psychologists have verified these measures to be just as accurate remotely as they are when administered in-person.
In-home testing involves a psychologist (Dr. Money) coming directly to your home. All materials and testing procedures are provided on-site, and she conducts the full assessment in a quiet, distraction-free environment. This option combines the convenience of being at home with the hands-on administration of standard testing procedures. Travel costs will be factored into estimate, in relation to distance from San Marcos.
